Q:

Condors Sold with Talon Frames…..

Some of you might remember a person who received a gun he thought was a Condor only to find out it had a Talon Frame. He had purchased the gun from a from a TOG member Mavericks who sold airguns as a dealer. This poor guy when he went to sell his Condor had everyone tell him it was a Talon converted to a Condor. Everyone though Mavericks had changed the frame on this customer.

Well new information has come to light in BB Pelletiers blog. He states “There were a small number of Condors shipped on Talon SS frames”(blog 5/2/08 http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/)

When Mavericks was asked about this he claimed to have no idea what had happened. Well it looks like Mavericks was telling the truth and is totally cleared of all charges!

It would have been nice for AF at the time to fess up and let people know what they were doing.

No, I stand corrected… I was thinking modified talon SS valve’s I think.

24″ barrel and SS valve gets you 40 fpe, not 50. Unless the hammer weight gets you 10 extra fpe. Does it?

I’m not seeing any info about the issue from your link. Can you clarify? Serial numbers maybe?

Lots of guys got Talon SS’s and then upgraded the barrel with a 24″. Your might have a Talon valve in it or a Condor valve or you might have a gun that was accidentally shipped with the SS frame – If its got a Condor valve there will be no performance difference between it and a Condor – If it has a Talon SS valve and 24″ barrel it should get around 50 FPE if it hasn’t been modified. Take a picture of your valve and we’ll be able to let you know

This is the direct link to the artle WOK was refering too –

The Condor was created by AirForce in 2004. It shares a similar frame with the Talon SS, but it is not identical. The only difference is that the Condor’s scope rail is two inches longer. You can spot that by the second hole in the rail that only the Condor has. There were a small number of Condors shipped on Talon SS frames, and an SS frame can be turned into a Condor rifle with a few modifications to the powerplant. Those are the similarities and differences between the SS and the Condor. The Talon frame is about four inches shorter than the SS and Condor frames.

Strange how BB would let that slip given that he personally shot every single AF gun made !!

Just another one to add to the list.

Look Here: http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=501 for what a Talon SS frame looks like. Its my understanding the only difference between the TSS frame and Condor is Condor has an extended Scope rail. You may have a TSS frame with a 24″ barrel installed and stock or moded valve.

I ask only because my frame says Talon SS, but my barrel length says Condor.

I got it used and I figured it was modded, but this is a new development.

It’d be nice to finally figure it out. Any info would help. Thanks.

oh i see, if he sold it as a full condor frame he probably would have been able to get a couple more bucks. Yeah, that’s right….he bought the gun and then tried to sell it a year later. Ok, I recall more clearly now. I don’t think i made friends in that deal. And that added more Oykas fuel.

oh wow. If it’s just a frame, what was the big deal anyways. The guy who bought it should known the difference between a condor and an SS. LOL. I guess we should have asked him to take a picture of the top hat. Or if it was an extremely loud gun.

I recall not doing anything for him because he was past the 15 day return cycle. And that he could contact pyramid air himself for an exchange maybe but he never did. Oh well.

Thanks for uncovering the truth!

not a Condor then were they?!
AF bungling…..
Sorry Mavericks
Walter….
