Forgot I had pics of it on the gun…

Jim.

I have the Alpha? and also one called a “Combro” LOVE the Combro! it straps on the end of your barrel and I also have the cable to have the shots go right into a spreadsheet via laptop…havn’t used it yet as I make notes with my shot strings as I’m shooting plus humping a laptop in the field is not practical.

Alpha does fine, kinda light sensative but you “learn” what it likes. Big relative to Combro but it can handle airguns-firearms…Think I paid $100 to my house. I can set it down range if I wanted to, and read the FPS with the scope or remote wireless camera/laptop.

Combro-625 , I’ll never shoot it 😆 but the readout is on the side so you have to tilt the gun to read it…also computes FPE at the same time. INCREDIBLY small unit also. Airguns only, no firearms…all gadgets to my house for like $100

Note: Combro needs no light source to work…has the sensors inside it and only messes up if light it directly shining into the unit on the sensors (clear day sunrise/sunset).

Jim.

I have one of the shooting chrony ones…. Beta, and then I “upraded” to the Gamma. I dont use any of the features and just write down the number or connect it to a computer and log it that way. I tried following the manual once to save a string and I ended up shooting 30 shots and losing all the data and gave up, not very user freindly. I killed my Beta so I only “upgraded” because it was cheaper than a repair.

I could probably do without a chrony now. So long as my gun shoots below the sound barrier (I can use my ear for that) I dont need to know the exact speed to within 2%. Softchrono does a great job of showing shot to shot variation and when the velocity starts to drop and thats pretty much all I (and I’m sure the majority of airgunners) really need.

Offcourse, a “real” chrony is nice for bragging rights when your .25 shoots faster than anyone elses….

Sweet!!!

quote shaky:

my impression is they were threaded, thus
would screw into a silencer (UK) of sorts. Is that correct?

I threaded this one myself. It originally slid into an existing Talon SS shroud and the end cap set screw held it in place I think.

YN:

curising what TOG caches that can still be viewed, and on
several of the posts, there was gentleman whose handle
was “Sandman.” The talk of the posts between you and
he seem to be of chronys of which he seemed to be building.
Is he the Sandman Chrony manufacturer? I thought those were
produced overseas?! Does anyone have any experience with them?

From the talk on the TOG, my impression is they were threaded, thus
would screw into a silencer (UK) of sorts. Is that correct?

Thanks for all the input guys 😀

so.. It looks like theirs none uot there that are computer compatible, and possibly not able to give a readout next to me with the crony out at 35 or so yards 😥 😥 😥 looks I might have to rethink this for a bit until the technology catches up with my wants.

Photo – moms been barking at me to come and visit, when it can finely happen perhaps we could meet up out at port chicago, check point edith or somewhere so I could see what this thing is acutely doing?

Diablo Rod and Gun Club is a good place to test. Mondays are better and If your a member we could shoot at the Multi range at any distance. The range is 200yards so some guys with .50cal powderburners will be shooting and it will be loud. PM me and we can set it up.

Ya I read that, unfortunately the laptop finely died and all my toys are suffering from it for I’m running a mac and verchual pc is way to slow for my patents threshold.

what’s a sandmans chrony

Thanks for all the input guys 😀

I have a Chrony Master Beta (red) and it’s sensitive to what kind of light hits it. Frustrating at times but works well when the light’s right. I also have one of Sandmans chronys that threads on the end of my LDC–that’s the one I will use the most when I finish my new LDC!

mcMike’s SoftChrono is fantastic! If I only had a laptop. 🙁

I have the Chrony Alpha Master (RED). I’v even shot the thing 4 times and it still keeps on kicking .

Jay: if Dark and I do indeed meet up and he has a Chronograph I will do my absolute best to get a shot string from it.

the cable used for the remote reader is around 6 – 8 ft. as this is a standard phone type wire, you should be able to use an extended lenth if needed. keep in mind the power soarce is a 9V battery

been lookin and readin and I”m thinkin I like the ones with a remote read out, but how long is the cable and are their any that can do a plug – n – play on the computer?

Tron – before you give up the wolf for a bit perhaps you could post a sting from it? or ask Darkfront if he has them both.
