Boy Shoots Pigeon In Back Yard

“A veterinary post mortem showed two wounds to the chest and back.”
It took a vet to figure out what killed it? I’m sure Quincy would be proud.
There’s your tax dollars at work.
It was a wood pigeon, which is big and fat and has big tasty red breast meat.
I love eating them.
I don’t think there are wood pigeons on the other side of the pond. Your loss 😆
On the subject: it’s pretty wacked of that neighbour to call the police on something so normal and damn trivial, and the fact he got convicted and sentenced that badly is even more ridiculous.
Fortunately I don’t leave evidence 😛
Unless, of course, you hang them on the wall. Then do so tastefully, please. 😉
JFTR, I’ve been served squab at the French Laundry. Try telling Thomas Keller ya shouldn’t eat them and you may find a cleaver (or worse) in your delicata puree. 😆
Clean up your kills and admit nothing…..
Why? Didn’t she believe in douche? 😯
I have eaten many strange things, coon, groundhog, muskrat, and yes even pigeon..about the nastiest, awful sounding , make you want to throw your guts up when you smelled it thing I have ever eaten was a pig..
The judge deserves to be flogged to within an inch of his life.
The neighbour would be in for some serious payback, and the RSPCA would be getting some attention too.
You couldn’t make it up could you.
See what we have to suffer over here??
Don’t let ’em take you down the same road guys…..
Wow, a pigeon? Who would eat a nasty bird like that?
Stupid. I’m definitely glad all of my neighbors are fine with me shooting. I know who to be careful around though, when out in the woods. Gotta know whose house you can shoot squirrels around and not. Some people love that I kill the pests that raid their attics every year, others hate that I kill the cute, fluffy little critter.
So I shoot around the friendly people’s houses. 🙂 Funny how the people that are so self richeous and hate killing all of the animals tend to be the rudest most unfriendly people.
Ya gotta wonder what the neighbor would’ve said if the 11 yr old had asked him and his wife over for a bit of spit roasted squab and ‘taters instead of leaving it on the pitch to expire? 😆
Back in KS we’d of called the kid a “good shot” and targeted a few more flying rats for him to whack!!
I think the main problem was that it was considered inhumane and the 11 year old needed to be taught you need to kill the thing all the way. I think the hole thing stinks personally and cannot believe the outcome.
I read the article and started wondering if it was from the “Onion!”
Oh dear God! Did he kill a WILD animal? The humanity! Brother, the UK is doomed.
He shouldn’t have pleaded guilty. He should have fought it and brought in displays showing British hunters on safari all over the world killing wild animals. I’ll bet he could have got pictures of members of the royal family (maybe a generation or two back) posing with their kills. I’ll bet plenty of the House of Lords have trophies hanging on the walls.
I certainly agree pops is a dufuss but the journalist is far worse!
She must have a degree from University of California Berkeley… 😆
Are you serious though? If he would have tried to eat it all would be good???
People you are missing that a CRIME was committed. The father did not show the son how to clean the bird and cook it. The father should have taken the son and shown him how to ring the birds neck to kill it quickly and then feild dressed the bird for proper food handleing prep. Then all he had to do was a little shake and bake and in the oven for 30 to 45 minutes and no problems.

Er, actually, I think it’s their pounds at work.
As I understand it from reading the Brit forums, rules of evidence there are even worse than ours at times. For instance, they take your gun for testing (to be sure it’s under 12 fpe) and take it to some unofficial place (local gun shop for instance) and get it tested for cheap. If it fails, then they decide if they what you or not. If they do then they send it out for a documented test which costs about a thousand pounds (serious bucks) but it gives them evidence you can’t argue with. Having spent the big bucks they’re not likely to want to back down or cut a deal.
In this case, they’d need to prove the airgun killed the bird. That calls for expert examination. They have lawyers there too, a guy facing alll that time in jail is likely to hire one who will be duty bound to try all sorts of wild claims to avoid the issue.
They don’t seem to think much of poachers there, scary stuff. As I see it, we’re not too far off from there ourselves. All it’s going to take is enough shooters refusing to support the NRA for whatever reason and expecting others to protect their interests. For sure the bunny huggers aren’t going away.
