Q:

Beeman 2006, P17, 2004

The Beeman 2006, P17, Marksman 2004. It is a close copy of the Weihrauch Hw40. In fact I guess the parts are interchangeable!

These all are the same gun, though the Marksman 2004 came first, then the Beeman 2004, Beeman 2006/P17. The only difference is probably (I would hope) some recent attention to quality control in the P17 due to all of the returns they were getting from failed seals on the piston when it was known as the 2004.
The gun has been known to have had (?? does it still ??) a tendance to go “whooosh” when cocking it, losing all the compression in the piston due to o-ring piston seal failure.
Happily this is easily corrected according to those who have attempted to fix it. Just get a new o-ring seal at the hardware store and replace it.
Some owners have polished the inside of the compression chamber to eliminate any burrs or rough spots that seem to tear the o-ring seals also.
Mine did the “whooosh” on the 3rd shot! However the rest have been fine, and I am on at least shot 600 now! I think mine may have been from the excessive amount of gray grease lubing the piston. I think it has now pushed all that aside and it is no longer an issue.
The barrel is pretty nice on this gun. It shoots very accurately. It is just my poor aiming that causes problems and that annoying moving sight. If I secure the gun well and easily touch off the trigger. This thing will put pellets into the same hole at 30ft!

It is well worth the $39.99 I paid for it, and that was with the Red-dot!
It is a ton of fun to shoot and shoots as hard or harder than advertised.
Cabellas.com has it at that price and so does Cheaperthandirt.com and Sportsmansguide.com.

Here is a write up on it at Pyramydair.com http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2006/02/marksman-2004-single-stroke-pistol.html

This is a link regarding the Hw40 with a parts breakdown/list that can be used as a reference for the P17. http://my.tbaytel.net/coopers/HW40Review/

If I think of more to add on this gun, I will do so.
