Q:

BB Pelletier to reveal his true identity

I thought that this was of interest given how much flak we have given him over the years:

http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/

So, will we finally be proved right that BB is in fact Tom Gaylord, or have we been pissing in the wind all this time?

Place your bets.

Here’s something to mull over: I made a post on his Blog about an hour ago in honor of his revelation of coming clean over who he really is, and I addressed him as Tom not BB. Strangely enough that post was deleted. He must have been slurping down some of Don the Dragon’s hooch.

You know our motto, the more the “merrier” 😆 😆 😯

You would. What with living in San Francisco and all….

😆

True, you are a cynic 😆 😆 I still think it’s great the GAYlord is outta the closet.. 😯 😆 😆

That’s not THAT good Hell.

Basic common sense should tell someone not to pay for something not only oversea’s and new to the market… but as yet not even built…..

And the cynic in me (who’d have thought 😈 ) also wants to point out that Pyramidair dont/wont/werent about to sell the filarms rifles…

Sometimes he’s right….

Dave,

Philippine airgun companies come and go. I like to wait to see if any American dealers (real dealers, not hobbyists) will carry and support the guns they import.

Otherwise, you have a lot of disillusioned buyers.

Thanks for the heads up,

B.B.

😆 😆

He’s got his moments, but a lot of the time it’s just a guess…

Geez, I am slow. Ha, it took a while for me to realize I was a little late on that one. 😛

Oops.

^ your still alive? 😯

Look at my posts in the off topics section, and go check out the blog today. He admits it. Those who votes yes win. Woohoo!

Everybody go WEEEEE!

Yea, your right. Gaylord really is no worse or different then a lot of airgun reviewers out there. I think part of the problem people have with him is he is really writing to the newbie but us Old Hats read it and scoff. For the new guys he provides much needed reviews.

The best things about forums though is we are not beholding to anyone in our analysis of airguns. Tom and BB on the other hand are. 🙂

I’m sure he makes mistakes, we all do. He does seem to have a great breadth of knowledge on various guns and air shooting overall, perhaps not an expert on any particular gun, of course . His real ability, however, is in how well he can write and convey information to the masses. Not many can do this as well as he can.

I have a 2-year old Condor that competely fills to 3000psi and shoots great. No air dump, no bad shots or anything. It’s perfect. So I can’t really comment on the idea that they all had some sort of problem. I suppose some did and still do.

quote Tom Kirkman:

Tom Gaylord is probably the best air gun informational writer that’s been around in some time. His “AirGun Illustrated” articles were great. Now he writes an airgun column for Shotgun Digest. It’s great as well. He’s well spoken and knowledgeable about the products he writes about. Maybe not accurate 100% of the time, but who is? More often than not, he does a fantastic job conveying valuable and accurate information.

I’ve always thought that Tom was problaby BB, but then, what does it really matter? Many writers have used pen names over the years. Are Mark Twain’s works any less valuable because they were actually written by Samuel Clemens? I suspect he didn’t really do it to hide his identity, but to infuse some fun into the blog.

Gaylord can write well. Sometimes he is just full of it. For example he is reviewing the AA410 and when asked which model he says the Beech one. He was not even aware of the Carbine & Classic. I had to specifically ask him differences between the models and he did not know. He also had a history of telling Airforce Condor owners there was no problem with the condor valve not filling to 3000psi and shooting the problem actually was the owners air gauge on their pump. He knew full well the condor valve had a fill problem but kept sending peoples guns back saying they were fine. I also read on his blog that frame extenders did not work to quiet the Talon because he tried and it did not work!. We all know they work and work very well because we use them and develop them as well.

Not that any of this makes him a bad guy but he is going to be called out on his expertise. He is at the same level as all of us and we give each other a hard time on the stuff we do. The funny part about his 2 characters is they actually refered to each other and would say one was asked to take over for the other….it was this kind of stuff that made it funny.

I do think I caused him a little breakdown when I exposed his dangerous practice of using Pellgun Oil in PCP’s. 🙄

He made a retraction post on the blog which is good.. but when I called pyramid last week the recorded message you get when you are waiting for a rep to answer Gaylord still says Pellgun oil is Silicone based. He also says that an “airgunsmith once told me” that you cannot over lube a gun with pellgun oil…. hmmmkay. Must have been one of those “forum airgunsmith’s” lol.

Last week he recommended Russ Best in his Blog as someone to get a tune from… that was quickly deleted.

I enjoy his blog, but he’s as bad for the newbies as he claims the forums can be….. At least the forums have several folks who will point out someones errors, what he says in that blog is treated like gospel.

Worst kept secret in Airgunning….LOL.

That was a good one. The only one confused with who was BB Pelletier was Gaylord himself. I mean with a name like GAYlord he had to choose an even Gayer name like BB Pellettier. Why not Captain Airgun or Mr. Daisy?….LOL

Poor guy actually thought he was fooling people. I like reading his stuff but he is so biased and acts as if he is not.

He “admitted” that he is Tom Gaylord.
