BB Pelletier reveals the voodoo behind a quiet Condor…

Yep, it’s that time of year again folks. The time where BB thinks that because he has just discovered something that it must be the latest and greatest thing and that no-one has done it before. This time he’s found out about the wonderful world of Shrouds and his excitement stretches to saying that with an AirHog Shroud the Condor is the quietest gun that he has ever heard, be it airgun or powderburner. Heck, he says that it’s not possible to go quieter than a shrouded Condor:

I have a .25 cal. from AirHog with their shroud on it. It came with the old valve. When I talked to Martin about it he said Van told him to have me send it back for a replacement tank with a new valve, so he could set it up with a tri-rail plus scope and adjust the top hat so everything just right. It is shooting great. It was hard to send it back because it was so quiet and it power really did a number on targets and pest birds in my area. It is quieter than my stock SS. I decided to send my SS to Tony along with three tanks to be tuned and have his Oring mod, drilled bushings, new hammer, cocking knob installed in order to make it as quiet as possible. By the way it has an AirHog extension on it, which I was happy with, but I want it to be really really quiet. πŸ™‚ CanÒ€ℒt wait to get it back. I havenÒ€ℒt had to pleasure of using one of TonyÒ€ℒs extensions yet, but if theyÒ€ℒre as good as the rest of his mods I know I would be more than happy with it. I have nothing but praise for both AirHog and Talon Tunes services and products. Forgot to mention I also have a Mac 1 24Ò€

Have you tried one of Anthony226’s? They’re $25 more and surely much more effective. My .25 condor only makes a hammer slap and a pfffft. At 80+ fpe, you can’t beat it…. and it’s worth EVERY penny…. or shilling in your case.

Theres a BIG differance when it comes to custom ( ie Anthony226’s shroud, as you can see by his pics and you pay for that personlised product and support ) and a run of the mill device ,thats run off a CNC by the hundreds in under a minute. For $25 more you got a far better product. Do the shrouds in the USA have baffels ? thought it was just a tube ,as baffels would make it a silencer under US law ? .I know the laws change from state to state , ment no offence to anyone πŸ˜€

If it can be attached to the end of a firearm and decrease the report then it can be considered a silencer. It does not matter how it is constructed. Even a Coke bottle attached to a firearm is a silencer. To attach one of the shrouds or frame extenders to a firearm some adapters would have to be made and in that case any tube or bottle could be a silencer. But it would require some creative milling to do so.

Since they are designed for a specific airgun and can not be attached to any firearm with out some extreme modification it has been okay. Even Airforce sells a gun with a shroud on it. And so we can always claim it is their fault πŸ˜†

Oh boy……..he’s even looking at the gamo whisper…..that one does have baffles…..man don’t you just love it when the preacher takes a walk on the wild side…lol……

Deep down, most of us already knew what his “surprise” would be and I’m glad that he finally came out and said it. No technological breakthrough by AH, just simple physics. But shrouds didn’t work (how can they?) obviously when he was with AF. I suspect the timing may have something to do with pressure in the market place since shrouded barrels is all the rage these days.

Funny that he said he didn’t own a Condor before (not that long ago) and had only shot them. He said his go-to gun is a TSS. Out of the blue, his Condor got a valve upgrade from AF which wasn’t suppose to have any problem to begin with. πŸ™„

I work in Corporate America as well and I see the same kind of behaviour from people in management every day, so I don’t blame him. Still, my respect for B.B. has just dropped a few notches.

It was always fine…

Your gauge was off.

It is funny to also read he had a new Condor Valve installed. Why? He always claimed the original valve was just fine….LOL

He says it is not baffled, all AH shrouds that I have seen are baffled.

But then again the endcap pictured is not the typical AH shroud’s endcap..

Gamebred wasnt that impressed with his Air Hog shroud…. I’ve never used one so I cant comment other than the Shrouds I’ve used made by others worked great.

Funny how Gaylord used to work for AF… never heard any mention of shrouds for the Condor from him in that time even though they would have helped Condor uses a GREAT deal, infact he dismissed one guy who baffled his SS frame as being some dummy for thinking he could quieten the SS more.

Now he works for Pyramid and Pyramid might start selling the shroud and oh hey, theres a shroud for the Condor didnt you know…

For a guy who is a repository of Airgun information he has some rather large holes in his knowledge, and its all the more amazing when he only seems to find out about new (or OLD in the case of the AH Shroud) from his current masters at Pyramid.

Ouch ! thats alot for abit of tubing πŸ˜€ . And people !!!! can we all use the correct terminology , ITS A “DEVICE” not a shroud! , that way the ATF will not raid your home. Maybe πŸ˜•

Yeah, I know but still, seems so gray it is hard to tell what is going on, I don’t own any firearms and I have no intentions of ever trying to make a silencer for one, not my cup of tea! I leave that to the trained and qualified professionals.

So does this mean they are OK by the a.t.f.e.? 😯 He has NO mention of this in the article… πŸ˜•

I’m liking the way this is turning out so far…

Funny he JUST figured this out! πŸ˜›

Who the hell knows. The ATF would have to machine up an adapter and fit it to the shroud and the barrel to make it work. And if they are willing to do that then they could get you for plumbing parts in your garage…lol

By itself the shroud can not be used on any firearm I know of without doing some serious modifications and additions to it. I do know lot of airguns are being sold legally with shrouds and moderators attached.

His article is pretty funny. Guess he just found out about the shroud.
