Barrel removal on BSA Sportsman

Anyone know how the barrel is held in place once the set screws are out?

Got it figured out, had to take the whole damn thing apart and it is the transfer port that was holding it in.

I will start another thread about my exploits with the rifle tonight.

wow…..this is the sportsmans HV, yes…? I had the same issue with my Hornet when I was removing the barrel….. I dont know how really to explain it, but I’ll try…

There is a piece of plastic/delrin that will slide back from inside the breech that will allow access to one other screw. I fought with that same thing on my Hornet for about 2 days before I got it. I dont remember if it slides to the rear or the front, been a while. I may have a pic somewhere of it……. anyway, that piece is what you need to slide out of the way and then you can have access to that screw and the barrel will come right out.
