blodnob came round my house last night with a silencer and asked me to anodise it, i asked him who it was for and he said it was just a freebey for somebody so if anybody is expecting a silencer of blodnob i hope you like black.

Yeah!Yeah! what Cyg said! except for the “funny” part! “Serious” would have been more accurate Nitric will cook your ass, in nothing flat! It’s one of the really “bad actors”. Forget what Skybones said earlier, he doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground.
Come on Baz. Put the propper pics up or i will 😈
How many ferrets did you catch ?
Hi, Yes I have been busy with another project, as I mentioned in the butt plate thread but I can’t seem to spend much time on it as every time a meet up with Shaun he has something else for me to anodise. This part is something to do with a Webbly Axor air tube and barrel support, as if I haven’t got enough to do, what with work and ferreting, speaking of ferreting, have a look at this hole I had to dig to get a ferret back that decided to eat a rabbit for its dinner. While I was digging it I had to answer the mobile to Blodnob has he wanted to know how many ferrets I had caught cos he thinks when you go ferreting you are goig out to catch ferrets, I’ll educate him one day.
nitric acid is funny stuff…..but be very carefull….will discolor skin rapidly, if not take it off…
most explosives are made from nitric acid….
black powder is made from nitrate+ coal+ sulfer….gun cotten is allmost the same….just using nitric acid+ sufuric acid….and cotten to replace coal
nitrate, is what makes oxygen, coal is the fuel to consume the oxygen, and sulfer is there to light the coal i belive it is
same thing with nitrous oxide….laughing gas….pump that into an engine…en presto alot more oxygen to burn than is in the air….so now you can add more fuel…since theres plenty of oxygen to burn=more HP
nice anodizing jobs….i whish i could do that
Thanks Baz, Well where is this pic Sean speaks of. Always looking for eye candy. If Sean is impressed then i think it worth the inquirey.
Pleaseeeeeeeeeee 🙄
Hello Bubby, I looked all over the internet for Sulphuric Acid and the company that I found to suply acid to me are: Barden Energy Sollutons, Contact : info@barden-uk.com Tel no: +0044[0]1489570770 If you look on their web-site under miscellanious battery extras they list Sulphuric Acid in 25 Litre wardrum with a specific gravity 12805 for £17.99 plus delivery, if I remember correctly it cost me £25.00 delivered to my door. Took around 3 days for delivery. I split the cost with Blodnob, had half the barrel each, but so far he hasn’t done anything with his. Another question was asked, do you have to neutralise the acid when you take the parts out before you dye them? answer is NO, just wash in clean water.
Ask Baz to put some pics of his latest project on. That’ll impress you no end. It has me.
Looks dam good to me. The things you two come up with makes me want to be your neighbors, would love to hang out at the shop and learn from you two.
Baz thanks for the container info, wouldn’t have thought that. I have a bunch around the house.
Be very carefull with Nitric acid,it mixed with the right amount of Hydrochloric acid, will dissolve Karat gold into a blu/green liquid. Not to mention, that Nitro-glycerin is based on Nitric acid. The fumes are deadly as well.
So where do you get you acid from? .Do you desmut with nitric acid before anodising, read that using caustic soda usaly means you have to desumt ?. Your got a good deep black ,im only looking to do small stuff so il have a talk to my bloke about giving me some acid and see if i can have a go . Looked at this site for info , http://astro.neutral.org/anodise.shtml , think he uses the same dye as you 😀
No mate, you do not need special containers for the acid as they sell it in plastic containers anyway, just go to an hardware store and buy whatever container that you need and just use that, as you can see from the picture there are a wide choice of colours and sizes available these days. And they are very cheap and you can also get lids to fit them.
Not bad i suppose. 😉
Awesome work. Do you have to neutralize the acid after the soaking with a base or just rinse with water? Also i take it glass to be the best container for soaking, something from a science surplus store? They look really good to me.

Thks for the info Baz on supply , think im arfter about a litre of acid , 25 sounds abit to much and looks like it will last for ever ! 😀 . Nitric acid is very bad news to any human body tisue 😯 but we dont live forever and think your got to be carefull with all the acids you need to use. As for ferreting , that looks like hard work for a hobbie , think il stick to laying in the grass breathing slowly , sweating less and hearing the pop of my gun hehe 😀
