Already Impatient
The term “Patience hell, I want to kill something” applies directly to me. Today I ordered an 18″ .22 barrel from Pyramid with hopes it is here by Friday. My problem is, I don’t want to wait that long to see for myself what it is going to produce.
To those who have experience with a stock .22 SS and have upgraded from a 12″ barrel to the 18″ barrel, what can I expect from this thing such as:
1. added weight
2. accuracy
3. power gain
I am hooked on the 21.1 gr Kodiaks and thats what I’m sticking with unless someone has found something else that works better in this barrel.

The gun is stock except for barrel. I did have it cronied once. I only had 1 fill to work with when I did it, I think I started at about 2800 psi, which sent 14.3 at a 949, and stayed in the 940’s for a while. By the time I started testing Kodiaks, the pressure was way lower, and did them in the 840’s. If I did the Kodiaks earlier I’m sure they would have been at least in the 850’s. I also have no clue where to set the top hat for this particular gun for best performance, I really need to get a crony and do some serious testing to sort all that out. So, basically it’s mid 900’s for 14.3, mid 800’s for 21.1 Kodiaks, sorry can’t be more precise right now, I went to a friends place who had a crony just to get a idea of what the gun was doing with the new barrel.
