I got my shroud from Airhog And the service and product are great. As long as the gun is not on full power. I also have the silencer that came from Europe. Was sold to me by the most popular airgun web site that all of us know well. Can’t tell. Don’t want to get the guy in trouble. He told me he had no part number and would send it. Well when I got it i put it on and it blew off the end of the Condor. So I screwed it tighter and after about 15 shot it blew the end off the thing. So I called the guy and he told me to send it back and he repaired it and it is fine. Just scared as hell to use it cause I think it is like a sick bird, illeagle! I know I can’t go to jail with the shroud.

Wish I could rember where I read it. Man this getting old is ruff! I do rember I didn’t find while searching Air Gun related sites. I was looking at Carry Laws, in different states when I ran across it.

I did search the crossman forum-came close but mostly airsoft stuff and nothing about “without modification”.
Seems to me a recent law change THAT significant to the airgun community would be a VERY hot topic and an easy subject to search but I’ve had no luck. Must be something I’m doing wrong-huh?:?

It was the crosman forum, i read the same thing. check out dogpile.com as a search engin for this sort of thing and you’ll find alot of info.

Wish I could rember where I read it I was doing my typical crusing for Gun Laws, and Air gun Info. Seem like I got to it off the yellow forums. Either that of Air gun advice . net.

Cool! Could you give us a link to that new law? 😯

Just for the hell of it and because I still could here in Oklahoma, I applied for a license to “Make and Register a Firearm” (silencer=firearm by definition) back in July ’07. Throughout the process I talked to several Federales and the general gut feeling I got was kinda ho-hum about air-gun silencers. These folks aren’t out to nail some decent tax paying USA citizen for making his Condor more user/dog/indoor shooting friendly. BUT–if you get caught selling drugs, beat your wife/kids or if you drop the neighbor’s cat they could add that silencer charge to the list! They have done this nasty trick before.

I received my ATFE permit 4 days after they collected $200.00!

Even given those circumstances. Just about any shroud or LDC would fit on one firearm or another. Then so would pop bottles and potatoes. Just got to stop beatin’ the dead horse and accept that in a legal situation against the ATF… you would not win. Best thing to do is keep everything under the table… or as someone on the Crosman forum said.. let the sleeping dog lie.

The law was changed in 2007 to state that the silencer would have to be able to be used on the firearm with out modification. It, as written was far too ambiguous. (Too easy for the feds to lose a case.) Otherwise, just about anything is a silencer. The 1 db. still stands. The way it reads
for me is there again, it has to be able to fit a fire arm without modification. Since modification to fit a firearm is part and parcel of the manufacturing of a silencer.

seem the ATF has added a shot of common sense to the law!

Has anyone had their hands on one of those? Wonder how stout they are?
Would a tweaked Condor balloon it, blow it plum up or just make it mouse-fart quiet? 😯

Their ordering instructions clearly state that—-
“We do not accept trades, food stamps, coupons, IOUÒ€ℒs, monopoly money, casino chips, fur pelts, hot stock tips, livestock, younger siblings, Indian beads, magic beans, or sexy underwear.”

The total irony and ridiculousness of this comes to light when you search for airsoft silencers…

These things are exact replicas of the originals and when fitted to a handgun or rifle would easily silence the retort 1db, it is totally legal to sell this stuff and I have yet to hear about any issues with regards to the ATFE…

This stuff will thread directly onto the barrel of firearms, no modifications needed, the feds need to prove ‘intent’ over possible adaptability and ease of use, because then wouldn’t all that stuff on that page be felonies with regards to firearm silencing…???

LDC – Silencer uhh i used the word – Shroud

if it silences a firearm even just a little bit….its illigal
if it can be modded to fit a firearm….its illigal…i heard a story of them doing extensive modding to get a ldc to fit a firearm…and it worked for just that one shot

but…..weirdly enough FX ships the monsoon where the shroud is a reloading mechanism, the whisper where its just a shroud, but could be fittet to a .22lr easy, AA shrouds…and lots of other makers have devices on their airguns to make them more quiet….Gamo has one that really looks like a silencer at the end of the muzzle…but is marketed in the US

if you just shoot in yout yard a shroud is probably fine, but if you use your argun to actually hunt with and run into a ranger…well…..IMHO a shroud is much less likely to raise any eyebrows, than if you have a can at the end of your barrel !

which shroud is best i dont know….most do the job well whether you go with one or the other…buy both return the one you dont like 😈

I checked with mac1 yesterday, they said they have a .25 condor with shroud setup for about $750, I think I might go that route..

quote synopsys:

If you don’t own a powder burner does that make the whole silencer thing irrelevant?

Of course it doesn’t.

1db can be the difference of a few grains of powder in the casing…

If you don’t own a powder burner does that make the whole silencer thing irrelevant?

Super vague at best, WTF?

If an “LDC” can be adapted to a powder burner and reduce the report by only 1dB the “LDC” is considered a silencer.
Hell-you could cup your hand(s) around the muzzle and reduce the blast more than 1dB! A very grey and subjective area of the law. πŸ™„
