Q:

air rifle range

Hey Gents
Living in SA and being fortunate enough to own a small piece of ground (85 hectares), I figured I may as well do something that does not require a Mill, the IQ of a brain surgen or the skill of an artist (looking at all the mods and projects on the go, here.)

I want to build a Family type range on the farm. Somewhere Dad can bring his kids, eat and have a fun day shooting at Targets.
I was thinking of setting out 3 field shoots of different difficulty, a few pratice ranges ( in a field, in the woods and over water). As well as a Kiddies section where Dad can shoot safely with his kids ( or if they piss him off he can quietly shoot them).

I am looking for ideas (from all you experts) of what type of shots, distances and targets you would recommend.

thanx

That is very nice 😀 . Have you figured out what FPE will trigger the bucket?

It takes very little ft lbs to trip it (about 8 or so), I can actually hit it with my blowgun and a stun dart to trip it (at 5′) but it takes at least 12 ft lbs to reset it. I am going to work more on it over Christmas break @ my dad’s house. I plan on beefing it up a bit.

Photo, who makes those pop-up targets???

See you tomorrow!

Dick Otten makes the Rhino’s targets and they can take up to 55fpe. You will see them at the shoot.

I am working on getting some of these made up…I designed them and I am trying to have some built. I built this prototype and so far it works great!

Here is a still shot of the target, as the video isn’t great…

😀 thanx gents those spinner targets look the ticket. Although I must say the soda cans and paint balls awaken the little boy in me.

thanx
Again

I hope this helps. You may try and make something for them to have fun with.

My kids love the FT target and there guns are scoped.

Metal targets that go clang when you hit them might be fun for the kids.

Metal spinners / swinging targets – so you don’t have to stop shooting to stand them back up again.

I like shooting red paintballs sitting on top of golf tees.

Small full v8 juice cans might be fun at distance. The small v8 cans are about the size of the small squirrels I shoot in the alpha fields.

I’ve always wanted to try this:
