Q:

Adjusting Power

Hey everyone. I haven’t been here in a while…been at a fishing forum lately. 🙄

Anyways, onto the questions. I couldn’t really find them after searching, so I’ll just ask…

How would you go about switching between target shooting(4) and hunting(9) at a maximum distance of 50 yards? Do you need to re-zero?

Thanks.

Maybe Its just me, but I think maybe at the end of a target shooting session I would increase the wheel setting, shoot at my target and see where the pellet lands. Then if the little hole doesnt match up with the little dot on the target make some adjustments until they do.

OR… as a shortcut – you could click left 25 times and up 30… that should do it for your gun !

I have my TSS zeroed at 30 yards. I shots flat from 30 – 50yards with no elevation adjustment of the scope required. I then rechecked it at 25, 20 and 15 yards and noted how many clicks up in elevation it took to bring it back to zero. With a laser mounted on the bottom rail, range estimation is easy.

Ah, but see, I don’t have a chronograph.

Hi mate
Get a copy of this and input your max settings then using the same data input (lower fp) your lower power settings and following the graph you will see your lower power zero point.
Hopes this helps
Steve.

Oh, so I do need to re zero. If the power is at 10 and I’m zeroed at 30 yards, about how far off from 30 yards can I realistically be before I need to compensate by aiming high or low? Like, will I need to aim low at 25 yards? It’s only 5 yards.

Depends what your acceptable hit/kill zone is. If you are trying to shoot a mouse in the head your target is maybe 3/8 inch so if trajectory varies more than that you need to adjust your hold. If you are taking a body shot on a pidgeon you have maybe a 1.5″ hit area so have more room to spare before holding under or over for range. 3/4 inch high or low wouldn’t matter to the pidgeon but would be a complete miss on the mouse.

Hi mate
Do a search and find a ballistics program called CHAIRGUN (Airgunbbs is a good place to start).
Run the 2 different power levels through it and it will show you your 2 different zero points if you input one of them. Sounds a bit convoluted so if you have problems mail me
