Q:

Adjustable Stock

So ive had ago at making an adjusting stock and this is how far i got . To test out my CNC conversion i wanted to mill a circle , which is a real test of any CNC milling machine , because its moving on two axis at once. So its round and held good tolerance , got a bit of cutter rub when it collects the backlash compensation but i can live with that .

So thats the good news the bad is that i made it out of the same alloy plate i made my gun out of so i dont think it will anodise well , but i will have to see. I was hoping to sell it as i need to buy Cambam CAM software to continue my enjoyment of learning to program my milling 😯 but il see if it comes out black ……or not.

Well ive got the desgin you say about Shadoh and true making the adjustable fingers the same would be easier but i think the bottom finger needs to be longer as in most adjustable stocks . Im going reverse the side on which it mounts on the butt for the next one as i can remove a machining operation by doing this . At the moment im just machining out of plate but ” IF ” i put it into production it would be made out of 20x20mm bar stock ( more expensive stock but a hell of alot less swaf as my shop is covered in it ) as its very wastefull of the alloy plate. This one is being made just to test out the design of the butt and my test dumby will be recieving it wnen im done in the long distant future 😀

Beautiful. One question, why not make the top and bottom “fingers” the same and just reverse the side on which it mounts. It would make production easier?

Looks good Buba! 😉
