Q:

ABOVE AND BEOND!!!!

Just wanted to share a public THANK-YOU to Tony (talontunes)

I received my 24″ .25 barrel, shroud, and hammer last week and have enjoyed it so much I haven’t yet written down any nice chrony strings or kept any pretty paper targets (subject for another thread).

I do most all my mods and upgrades myself so special ordering from a “tuner/airsmith” was a little odd and funny feeling to me; but with Tony having the only .25 barrel readily available and the feedback on his shrouds I decided this is what I wanted.

Placed my order by phone and talked to him a few times inbetween (good work takes time and at about 6 weeks it was well worth it).

I had talked to him about delivery and he said he would get my order out Thursday (2nd day Fedex) so I would receive it Monday (I had told him an old friend was visiting the next week and I would like to have my order IF POSSIBLE to show off/shoot with my friend; but if not I understood that quality takes time and don’t get in a rush). I even told him that from Fl to Al was normally only two days by ground ship and much cheaper, wasnt a huge push. He said he would e-mail the tracking number when my order went out. I thought good to go, there’s a chance I’ll have a new toy to show when my friend arrived Monday night.

Friday came, no e-mail

Saturday: Figured I’d call and check on how things were going (not to rush, just to check).

Here is the ABOVE AND BEOND PART: Tony said he had gotten tied up with family stuff and hadn’t been able to get my order shipped Thursday as planned….SO HE SHIPPED FRIDAY AND UPGRADED TO NEXT DAY AIR TO MEET THE MONDAY DELIVERY HE SAID HE WOULD DO (that I said was non-critical)!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

I repeated to him again that it wasnt that critical and I wasn’t worried about a couple days waiting for good quality work after 6 weeks. His reply: “MY FAULT IT DIDN’T GO OUT THURSDAY, I TOLD YOU MONDAY AND I DID WHAT I HAD TO TO GET IT TO YOU”

THAT’S CUSTOME SERVICE!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀

I got in a Condor tank for my SS about the same time and so far am getting 1000+- fps with 31gr kodiacs with accuracy to hit bottle caps at 50yds no problem. And noise: quieter than my daughters .177 qb78 on CO2! 😯 (once again, I defer review and performance to another thread).

A BIG TWO THUMBS UP FOR ANTHONY AT TALONTUNES.

Its just that $200 dollars is a lot for a shroud, but i believe it will be worth it.

That is a lot . But it is the going price of others as well. I have essentially the setup you are looking for and it is very nice. Tony’s shroud is not a mass produced item and each piece is hand crafted. It is very solid in it manufacture and delicate as well. The baffles are not just flat washers but machine to reflect back the gas and several have to be made. The endcap is not just a plug, it has several machine operations in itself. While it does cost some $$$ it is an option not mandatory. It is the price we pay to have custom work done.

GET IT!!! you won’t be sorry. If you aren’t happy with it I’m pretty sure you could sell it to someone here for what you paid for it. Not that it matters, once you try it selling will be the last thing on your mind.

Looking through mine I count 6 baffles that I can see. I have the 24″ barrel so shroud is almost 12″ long. May be different on the shorter one. It does wonders for noise. I was taking it for granted until last night. Shooting the .25 with my friend shooting a stock .177 talonss beside me. I thought something had gone wrong with my gun. The little .17 SS was easily 3 times as loud as the .25 with Anthony’s shroud. For comparison, the .25 is about 70fpe, the .177 is set up about 13-14fpe.

Shroud is AL and is so light it doesn’t hardly change the balance of the gun at all.

LOL, why didnt you ask him that when you had him on the phone?

I called Tony up and he said it will be $400 for an 18″ .22 fully polished barrel with vented bushing, and an 8″ shroud. What material does he make the shrouds out of? do they have internal baffling and stuff, or are they just a hollow pice of pipe, that somehow quiets the gun?

from my conversations with tony, he recommends shroud length to extend 6″ beyond barrel for max effectiveness. You would probably be about $400 for barrel and shroud, just have to contact him for quote. .22 barrel may be a little less than my .25 was.

So then a 6-8 inch shroud should work.

18″ bbl. comes just about 1/2″ out the front of a Talon SS frame.

What would he charge for an 18″ barrel from him with vented bushing, and a shroud to cover it? after you install an 18 incher on an ss, how far will it come out the shroud? i was thinking of getting a .22 cal 18″ and a 6 inch shroud, would he be able to do that?

All reports are Tony is a great Kisser also!

I would also like to chime in here. I received my .25 cal barrel and shroud last week and it is an amazing addition. Tony does top notch work, I couldnt be happier Thank You so Much! I think Im going to be making some SS owners upset when my .25 cal condor is quieter. LOL

Ah man thats too cool.

When I ordered my barrel, I told Tony repeatedly there was no rush and to take his time.

When he shipped, he used next day air. Awesome!

Tony is a man of his word and is very proud of his work, with customer service only the best can dream of.

What can I add to that? Only that in my dealings with Tony, he has always been straight forward and no bullshit. The other day, I was shooting golf balls at 50 yards with the neighbor kid and was having quite a time blasting them out of his sights when in my haste to be number one,” the big dog”, I broke my cocking knob. I was in a fucking panic! Without Lizzy, how would I spend my days? Ever since I opened the box, we have been constant companions. I freaked out, E-mailed Tony through his website on the TAG private message and called and left a message. Imagine my surprise when he returned my call at work. Must have been the panic in my voice: without Lizzy I might have had to spend more time with my lovely wife. Well, after talking it over with Tony, we decided that it would be in Lizzy’s best interest if I shipped her back to her father to be restored to her former glory. Packed her up as per Tony’s instructions and I am glad to say she is back home doing what she does best- dispatching vermin with extreme prejudice. BIG THANKS TONY. 😀 😀
