Q:

.25 barrel from Tony

Not had a chance to get the Condor out much since installing a .25 barrel on it and getting the valve upgraded from AF.

I finally got the chance to shoot some groups with it at 50 yards the other day. I’ve got a Rich in Mich mod on it and had it since it was .22. Grouped just fine with the mod in .22, but in .25…. not so much.

Took the mod off and groups shrank down to around 1 inch at 50 yards. Not stellar, but I was shooting quickly…. The barrel is a nice contrast to the black on the Condor anyway and noise isnt an issue for me so I think I’ll just leave it as is. Got a little silver(ish) bling on the bird now and awaiting a bit more and she’ll be done!

….and for anyone on the fence on .25…. holy hell those 1/4 inch pellets hit hard. WHAP!!! 😈

poly barrels offers slightly less friction, which leads to a tad more speed but its allmost neglible.

the rifling grooves are according to LW supposed to be a smoother shape, leading to better aero dynamics og the pellet in flight, since it wont have the hard edges of the regular rifling….im having ahard time beliving that

i ordered 3 poly and 1 regular all chocked, even the though the poly’s on the webpage said they where not….made them all up the same way….at the range there was no difference to be seen at 50y whats so ever switching around barrels

power the poly’s was about 10-15 fps faster, nothing that really matters….900 or 915 fps its all good….that little bit of speed isnt gonna change anything.

right now b51 is running a .25 poly barrel, and it seems to do fine….accuracy of the barrels is still depending on the crown the most.

if i where to order a barrel today, i would just grab what ever LW has in stock

Not much. It might be slightly faster shooting. But there arent any real disadvantages either.

What are the advantages of a poly barrel?

I’m still wanting to blast a chipper with my DAQ…haha… put a half inch hole in him.

I got the regular rifling I reckon… just whatever was for sale… I reckon it’s choked, would have to ask Tony for sure on that one.

I do have some CM’s. Been toying with the idea of making some MCM’s.

Tried some of the round balls you sent me in it and they SCREAM out of it. Not tested accuracy in them. I’ve got several of the old Pelletman bullets in .25 that I’ll run through it to see what they’ll do, but I dont have enough for serious shooting… maybe 30 or so. Still nice to see what they’d do.

Rain for the forecast all weekend… hope to kill a spaghetti-o can or two..haha

I dont see why not…. if the weather holds up this weekend, I’ll do some vids of it… sounds like a cool project.

How many here remember the old redneck chrony videos? haha I’ll do some of those.

😆 yea I remember those… you got a can of Spagetios to whack 😆

Grats on the new Cannon! those Chipmonks have NO chance now 😆 😆 😆

Which barrel did you get? the Poly or regular rifling? choked etc???

You have any CM’s to try in it?

Jim.

Got them spitting out of the bird at right around 950fps. Have toyed with the idea of putting a heavier hammer in, just for bragging rights… but I really like the shot count I get now with it.

Good deal Rob.
Thanks for the post.

Those Kodiaks will tighten up more in the 975-900fps range.

Keep us posted

Tony

Leaning agaisnt a house? Ignore what I said then…..

I’m going to have to drill out a logun so I can use it with my 410 as it sucks with it right now.

Rob, I drilled out the Rich MB that’s on my 850 Airmag .22 to the next size and it made the groups nice and tight while keeping the sound down. It should work with your Condor and maybe worth a try. Just about all my airguns have MB and some had to be done like this.

Sound darn good for leaning against the house to me! Man, those .25’s are sounding better and better!

It was with Kodiaks, yes… I know the barrel will do it. Tony sends out a test target with the barrels and I know he’s not going to turn out shit products.

I’ll give another go at it… as stated, I was just shooting quick, no real rest… just leaned up against the house. Just a quick sight in. Not worried about it at this point until I set up a proper bench and give it another go.

Tried some Webley Mosquitos (~20gr) in it… not good… C–R–A–C–K!

You should be getting smaller than 1″ at 50 yards. I managed one ragged hole… (which I guess could be as large as 1/4″ with .25 pellets 😕 ) with Kodiaks at that distance. I’m not that good a shot, and I know your not to blame from other groups you’ve posted Rob.

Was this with Kodiaks?

I dont see why not…. if the weather holds up this weekend, I’ll do some vids of it… sounds like a cool project.
